From Vermont Route 9 to Congdon Shelter
Miles Hiked: 4.3 (steep uphill all the way!)
Hours Hiked: 3

Hello! I have missed you.  I spent the weekend with Glassman at his house and then we had a slow start this morning before getting back on the trail.  His mom, Ginny, kindly dropped us off at the trail head around 3:00.  After taking a short hike North with Ginny we turned South down the trail.  With our packs full of food and water we climbed/hiked up the mountain from Route 9 to the shelter.  We were the only hikers at the shelter and decided we would sleep in it instead of setting up the tent.  Someone had left a copy of the book 'The Hobbit' by J.R.R. Tolkien there, so while we took our time cooking dinner we began to read out loud to each other.  When the sun was about to set, around 7 pm, we noticed that more and more mice were visiting us as we tried to finish eating dinner.  When we saw four of them at once inside the shelter we decided to sleep in a tent instead.  After putting up the tent in the dark we carefully bagged and hung our food from what we hoped were mouse-proof hangers inside the shelter.

Glassman and me-sporting our packs and ready to hike.

    1. Thanks. :) I finally took down the photo I took last November on the Ice Age Trail in Wisconsin and replaced it with this photo of the A.T. in MA that I took this week. Thanks for noticing!
