Today Joseph and I left for vacation. We flew out of South Bend too early in the morning, after only 2 hours of sleep. This was the first time for Joseph on an airplane that he can remember, and he didn't love it. But we did o.k. and got to Key West in time for lunch with mom and dad at an outdoor cabana right on the beach. Then we stopped at a butterfly garden before checking into our cottage for the week. Joseph was feeling very very sick for the majority of today, so it was a little rough around the edges. But hopefully he'll feel good the rest of the week.
Here are a few pictures.
Views out the window of the plane
The islands.
The blue butterfly in flight is the same as the brown butterflies folded up. Cool, huh?
Butterfly Garden
Joseph was adjusting the settings on my camera to try to get a better picture of a butterfly when this one landed on the camera. Ironic.
This is a button quail. See how big it is compared to the brick it is standing on? This is an adult bird. They were wandering around with the butterflies. If you're curious, ask Joseph about them, he read up on them last week.
Dad admiring a butterfly on his shirt.
Mom and dad looking at a very large moth. See the orange both above and to the right of the purple flower?
A picture of Joseph and I as far south as you can drive in the continental US.
We're staying on an island with many many lobster traps!
A view of sunset from the island we're staying on.
