9.2 Miles
This is the section that Chip and I had skipped earlier, the section that passes Greasy Creek Gap. I'm glad to go back and catch these 9.2 miles. I started and ended at the hostel in Roan Mountain, TN. It was a damp day. I met a man in the woods who was there harvesting ramps. Ramps are wild in these woods. They taste like a garlic/onion combination. I had not heard of them before, but he kindly showed me how to identify them and taught me that they can be frozen. He harvests a year's worth of the plant in these woods for his family each spring.
The trail
Cloudy, misty, view from trail.
